a bit of history....
The Bolton Lads & Girls Club holds a special place in the hearts of company owner Chris Haywood and company director, and Chris' son, Mike Haywood. The family assocciation stems back to Chris' great uncle, Stanley Haywood, who was the treasurer from the early 1930's until around 1952 when his nephew, Oliver Haywood, Chris' father, took over the role of treasurer having served on the committee for a number of years. In 1973 Chris himself took over the role of treasurer where he helped oversee the successful awarding of a lottery grant that was given to the club inorder for them to build their current home in 2002, on Spa Road in Bolton town centre. Chris stepped down as treasurer shortly after the grant was awarded but he remains an Honoury Vice President of the club, a title he holds with immense pride. It is now Mikes turn, as a Chartered Accountant, to step forward and keep the family tradition alive by becoming the clubs treasurer sometime in the near future.
