CSCS cards provide you with access to work on construction sites. If you don't obtain a CSCS card, you will be unable to work on most construction sites in the UK. CSCS stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme and the card scheme is a major factor in driving Health & Safety into the construction industry.
This training is designed to give candidates the basic Health & Safety knowledge to work on construction sites. Candidates will attend a one day training course where they will be guided through basic Health & Safety. They will be provided with a Health & Safety testing book where they will be asked to complete home revision.
Candidates will attend a half day revision course then take a PC-based touch screen test taken in a mobile testing unit based in the grounds of Merehall Training Ltd. The results of the test will be given to the candidate on the day of the test.
To apply for the CSCS card candidates will need to contact Construction Skills. This can be done by calling 0844 576 8777 (choose option 2). The operator will complete an application form with the applicant. Payment will then be taken by credit or debit card. The fee for the card is £30.00. The operator will send out the application form and the applicant will need to sign the form and attach a current passport sized photograph. This is then sent back to Construction Skills and the application will be processed. The card will be sent out when completed.
